Kirtan and Workshops with Dharmashakti

Dharmashakti shares new chants based on Bhakti and Raja Yoga, using the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and other spiritual texts. Enjoy a wonderful and unusual evening of Kirtan featuring horns, electronics, percussion, improvision and more. The teachings combined with non-traditional instruments, jazz stylings, and instrumental moments for reflection create a unique, exciting and inventive Kirtan.  Workshops with Dharmashakti revolve around the ancient teachings of Yoga with lessons to help you study Yoga and live Yoga.

Dharmashakti

Teacher, musician and ordained minister, Dharmashakti has performed jazz, pop, experimental and new music in venues around the world. He discovered Kirtan while studying Integral Yoga and began writing his own chants as study aids, finding that others enjoyed them and used them to remember Yogic lessons. Although he had nearly retired from music, Dharmashakti was given an opportunity to lead Kirtan and rediscovered his love for performing through sharing the principles of Yoga. He is a certified Hatha Yoga instructor, as well as the recipient of a 2001 Mabel R. Dodge Fellowship at Music Omi (an international musicians' residency), two Australian Green Awards for musical direction, and an OMA award as Outstanding Outmusician of the YearAfter 15 years in New York, he now resides in New Mexico and travels extensively.
